About three years ago, I tried my hand at making macarons — and failed miserably. My peaks weren’t stiff enough, I didn’t use cream of tartar — I could go on and on about all the things I did wrong. So I’ve also had my eye on a macaron making class at Sur La Table for about three years as well, so I could learn how to make my favorite cookie the right way.
I also took an Indian food class there in 2014 and that’s when the staff had recommended the macaron class. Finally, there was a class that fit my schedule and it was on sale. In addition to all of that, Oscar winner Marcia Gay Harden was in the class with us! Making macarons alongside an Oscar winner is so LA, isn’t it? 😉 I also got to take home a box filled with macarons and they tasted even better because they were homemade.
