About

Hi! My name is Mallory. I’m a professional journalist in Los Angeles by trade and food blogger on the side. I’m currently an adjunct journalism professor. Previously, I wrote podcasts at Spotify and I was an editor at Bustle for five years. I love food, so naturally, I’ve written about it — hence I founded Couch Potato Cook in late 2013 as this blog. In late 2014, it primarily moved to Instagram. And 10 years later in 2024, it’s now also a Substack newsletter.

I’m no expert on cuisine — just think of me as that friend who’s always talking about where to eat and what to watch.

I’ve been writing professionally for almost two decades, writing and editing for major media outlets (Cosmo, Teen Vogue, Bustle, New York Daily News etc.) and covering sports, entertainment, real estate, food, and internet culture. I was a contributor to The Daily Meal. I used to write the weekly food truck feature on LosAngeles.com.

(For my formal resume and credentials for freelance writing, please visit my professional website.)

Come along on the journey and let’s eat.

Partnerships

I’ve been excited to partner with these brands for sponsored content: American Express, Walgreens, Zumba, Lay’s, Lee Kum Kee, and many others!
